Day By Day Details

Day 1 – Arusha to Mkomazi National Park to Magamba

After an early breakfast, depart Arusha for Mkomazi National Park, located near the Kenyan border.

Enjoy a full-day game drive across open savannah landscapes. Mkomazi is known for its black rhino sanctuary, African wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, and elephants. The scenery here feels vast and untouched.

Picnic lunch inside the park before continuing with afternoon wildlife viewing.

In the late afternoon, drive onward to the West Usambara Mountains. As you ascend, the climate cools and the landscape turn green and hilly.

After breakfast, enjoy a guided walk in Magamba Nature Forest Reserve.

Walk through montane rainforest filled with birdlife and indigenous trees. Visit scenic viewpoints overlooking the Maasai plains and learn about the forest’s ecology and local history.

The walk is moderate and can be adjusted to your pace. Afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the mountain air.

After breakfast, travel across the Usambara range to Amani Nature Reserve in the East Usambaras.

Arrive in time for lunch followed by a gentle forest walk. Amani is a biodiversity hotspot, home to rare plants, butterflies, and endemic bird species.

After breakfast, explore Amani further with a short morning walk or visit to the botanical gardens.

Late morning, depart toward Tanga to visit the famous Amboni Caves, the largest limestone caves in East Africa. A local guide will explain the formation of stalactites and stalagmites and share local legends.

After exploring the caves, continue to Pangani Coast. Arrive in the afternoon and settle into your beach resort.

After breakfast, explore historic Pangani town. Visit old colonial-era buildings reflecting Arabic, German, and British influences.

In the afternoon, enjoy an optional river cruise along the Pangani River or relax at the beach.

A full day at leisure along the quiet Swahili Coast.

Optional activities include snorkeling, fishing with local fishermen, or traditional dhow sailing. Or simply relax by the ocean.
